Well Information App
Information related to wells in Santa Clara County can be accessed using Valley Water's Well online, interactive, Information App, accessed via the Well Information button above.
When using the Well Information Application, please note that:
- Well locations depicted in the system are approximate but should show the wells' approximate locations with respect to other features, such as property boundaries. The wells shown were not surveyed by Valley Water and should not be thought of as survey-grade location data.
- There may be other wells that are not shown on the map or contained in the well attribute data. Valley Water's well data and associated database and mapping application only contain location and attribute data for wells that we permitted and/or registered. Because Valley Water did not initiate our well registration program until the 1960s (for the North County) and the 1980s (for the South County) and did not initiate our well permitting program until the mid-1970s, it is always possible that wells were abandoned and buried without ever being known to Valley Water and/or added to our data set.
- Like the well location data, well attribute data may not be complete and/or accurate for all wells. Well data acquisition was completed from the period between the mid-1960s through present, and some well data may be inaccurate or missing.
For more accurate well attribute data for each well, we recommend that system users contact the State of California's Department of Water Resources to request a "Well Completion Report" for each of the wells of interest to them. The Department of Water Resources is the owner of record for Well Completion Reports.

Groundwater Elevation App
This app provides groundwater elevation information for actively and historically monitored wells. Please note well locations are approximate and that well depths vary.
To search measured groundwater elevation data:
- Use the pan and zoom map features to click on any circle (well).
- Purple circles indicate actively monitored wells.
- Gray circles represent wells with historical data (no new data for over a year).
- A small number of wells have hourly measurements but are reported with daily readings.
- By clicking any well, the app will display the related data and hydrograph.
- Table fields can be sorted by clicking the column header.
- Users can create a report or export the table data into a .csv file.
- Users can also search available data using state well ID, Assessor's Parcel Number (APN, with no dashes), or address.
- If searching by state well ID, please note that Valley Water does not have groundwater elevation data for all wells.
For the generalized depth to first groundwater map, please note that:
- This represents a theoretical, interpolated surface of the shallowest groundwater levels for the area based on available measurements between 1978 and 2019.
- Because the date associated with the shallowest measurements varies by area, the map does not represent a specific date.
- Mapping is based on data from contaminant release site monitoring wells (which are not shown on the app) and Valley Water data from shallow monitoring wells (shown).
- Generalized depth to water shown for a particular area may not align with nearby measured groundwater elevation data due to interpolation, different well depths and construction, differences in hydrologic conditions, or other reasons.
